LEVELS OF CARE

RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT

What Is Residential Treatment? Residential Treatment is defined as an inpatient program that allows you to devote all of your time and energy to the recovery process. Brighton Recovery Center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure that each person is offered a safe environment in which to heal. The length of stay in Residential Treatment will vary from person to person, as everyone’s circumstances are different. Typically, people choose to stay 30 – 90 days based on a number of factors including clinical appropriateness and insurance coverage. It is highly recommended that people graduating from Residential Treatment immediately engage in an outpatient program (IOP) in their area.

DAY TREATMENT (PHP)

Day Treatment is defined as highly supervised outpatient treatment. Day treatment curriculum will cover many tools and skills taught in residential treatment and is focused on transitioning a person through the reintegration process of going home after treatment. These programs are medically monitored by medical personnel. A “step-down” approach to getting the person home and back into their community is highly recommended in our industry. Day Treatment programs generally run from 5 to 7 days a week for 5-8 hours per day. Brighton Recovery Center offers Day Treatment programs at each outpatient location five days a week for 5-6 hours each day. Residential treatment is not a prerequisite to engage in our Day Treatment programs.

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM (IOP)

IOP is defined as outpatient treatment that is part-time. Brighton Recovery Center’s IOP is located at a separate site and is designed to be a step down from a higher level of care such as residential treatment or detoxification services. IOP is optimal treatment for people trying to balance their work lives and home lives, but still need a treatment environment for accountability, continued education, processing, and peer support. Most IOP meetings are held in the evenings. Brighton Recovery Center offers IOP run by a master’s level clinician both night and day. Programs are located in Salt Lake City, and South Ogden, Utah. Daily programming attendance is mandatory to remain in the program.
