Garrett Cimino, LCSW
Garrett Cimino is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He has a passion for working with people and helping them address the underlying issues surrounding addiction such as trauma, grief and loss, and identity development. He also excels at assisting their loved ones to find a healthy path to balance support with their own level of self care. He knows that this process can be tough, stressful, painful, and in need of as much appropriate engagement as possible for lasting benefit and recovery.
Garrett employs a Rogerian/Person-Centered model of therapy, believing that the authentic relationship between counselor and resident is key to a positive outcome. He is also EMDR level II trained for trauma work and utilizes intensive grief and loss work (both in individual and group settings), Motivational Interviewing, and elements of Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy.
Garrett holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Utah with extended work and study in cognitive neuroscience along with ethnic and minority studies, as well as a Master’s Degree in Social Work (clinical) from the University of Southern Mississippi.
He has worked and practiced in Mississippi, Oregon, and Utah in the areas of outpatient college counseling, crisis/emergency response, inpatient mental health, inpatient addiction, threat assessment, sexual assault response, and teaching at the community college and university levels.
